Production Staff: On Top of the World Too

Anne Martin, Host & Executive Producer

Anne Martin is a veteran broadcaster and producer and president of World Life Video Productions. Her half-hour travel documentary television series “On Top of the World”which she hosted & produced and for which she raised all the production funding, has been broadcast throughout the world. Anne has developed a special relationship with broadcasters by actively promoting the series in different markets, producing special 30 second promotions and providing a variety of testimonials and publicity data to assist in advertising and sponsorship development. She also works with tourist boards and corporations to develop national marketing and promotional strategies, including the development of CD-ROM and video products. As Travel Editor for Tandem for four years, she honed her journalistic skills and continued to expand her travel knowledge into Asia, Europe and North America. As Past President of TMAC (Travel Media Association of Canada) Anne is connected to travel writers across Canada and the United States and will draw on their wealth of experience as the show develops.

Britt Hamilton, Senior Producer

On Top of the World Too’s Senior Producer Britt Hamilton is a seasoned travel journalist who’s worked in print, radio and TV. Together with working for two years as staff writer at Canadian trade publication Travelweek, Britt has directed and shot video documentaries in Pakistan, prepared CBC radio documentaries in Cuba and written and researched for PlanetWare’s Baedeker CD-ROM travel planner. A Ryerson Journalism School grad, Britt is fluent in French, has video and photography skills and is a certified scuba diver. As a student traveller, Britt lived and worked all over the world and says her special interests are in tourism and development, adventure travel, eco-tourism and travel “off the beaten path.”

Cindy McGlynn, Producer

Cindy McGlynn is an experienced freelance writer and web designer, Cindy regularly contributed to the Globe and Mail, President’s Choice Magazine, Travelweek and Eye Weekly magazines. Multilingual (French, Spanish, Portuguese) and an avid traveller, this Carleton Journalism School grad says her special interests are in food, language and culture.

Ian Venables, Editor

Ian was World Life Video’s in-house editor. Prior to this he spent nearly five years at Whitewater Media, editing corporate videos for clients such as Loblaws, Cineplex Oden, Canadian Tire and Federal Express. He has also worked on episodes of Great Canadian Parks and Iron Man videos for Good Earth Productions. Ian is a graduate of Ryerson’s Radio and Television Arts program.

Cameraman David Bailey, a veteran in the field of television production and former producer of a nationally syndicated radio travel series.

Bruce Bishop, a prolific freelance writer who contributes frequently to the Globe and Mail, the Medical Post and the Rotarian as well as Fodor’s travel guides.

Camera operator Milan Chvostek, who spent 27 years at the CBC. Today, he juggles freelance assignments with his world travels.

Veteran CBC Radio morning man Joe Cote, a documentary film maker and travel writer.

Photographer Gary Cralle, whose photos have appeared in Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine magazines together with various international magazines and newspapers. He offered his “Picture Perfect” photography tips to On Top of the World Too.

Jim Curran, a CBC Radio writer/broadcaster for 27 years. For the past four years, Jim has been shooting and editing video and has travelled extensively in Europe and North America.

Anne Dimon, a veteran journalist who writes about the internet, wellness and travel. Credits include the Toronto Star, Calgary Herald, Halifax Herald an Regina Leader Post.

Nancy Early, an energetic freelance writer specializing in soft adventure stories. Nancy was a frequent contributor to On Top of the World Too and Passport to Travel.

Shaun Hatton a website designer and PhotoShop wiz-kid who shaped the style and look of ontopoftheworld.ca

Dick Howard, a freelance sports contributor whose work with FIFA, CSA and CONCACAF has taken him around the world of soccer.  His broadcast credits include covering the World Cup and premier soccer/football tournaments as a technical analyst since 1980 for radio and television stations including CBC, Fox, TSN and Rogers SportsNet. 

Veteran journalist Sam Ion, who contributes to many daily and weekly newspapers including a well-read weekly column “Sam Ion Says.”

The late James Mangos, an on-location camera veteran with an extensive background in shooting news and variety shows, and who put his singular stamp on many of our productions.

Isobel Warren, an author and veteran broadcaster whose syndicated travel column appears across the country.
