Magdalen Islands #1: Culture and cuisine


An introduction to the history, culture and cuisine of Les Îles de la Madeleine, a relatively unknown group of islands belonging to Quebec and located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Isolated from the rest of Canada, their language has evolved from a unique mix of English, French and Scottish shipwreck victims, native Micmac hunters, French and British colonists and, most notably, Acadians escaping deportation.
